Haha, this past Sunday myself and a few others went to Kansas City to watch the Chiefs get manhandled by the San Diego Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium. This was the first game this season I have been able to make and the first time I had personally seen the new renovations to Arrowhead. We left Wichita at 6 a.m. so we could tailgate and arrived at our destination just before 9; shortly following our arrival the fun began. We parked in the most expensive lot, where the best tailgating occurs and met some crazy fans who really go all out for every home game. These fans traveled from Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, and we even met a group from California. We walked around the lot sampling food from everyone, comparing different burgers, dogs, brats, chili, and even steaks. Needless to say, I was absolutely stuffed by the time we entered the stadium.
Being the poor college students that we are, we purchased tickets on the third tier. The stadium was packed so moving closer was difficult. Before the second half, like a gift from God, it started to rain. Within ten minutes of the rain, I was on the front row with my shirt off, drawing the attention of ALL the camera men. I must have made the jumbotron three times. Being so close was a lot of fun, but would have gladly stayed in my purchased seats in exchange for a Chiefs win. We stuck it out until the end of the game. The ride home was wet and miserable but was well worth it.
Our soccer team placed first in our region giving us the number one seed going into regionals. I will be in Manhattan next weekend for the tournament. We are leaving Friday afternoon. Wish us luck. I will let you know how we fare next week.
