A Big Weekend

So this past Saturday was huge for Wichita State and SigEp. During the early afternoon the gentlemen of Sigma Phi Epsilon hosted a self defense class taught by women for women called TAKE defense. This was the second year our chapter hosted this philanthropy and it was a huge success. We advertised this event in all of our classes, our homes, and local high schools. Any woman age 12 and up could attend. We had twice as many women show up this year than we did last.

Immediately following the TAKE defense class WSU hosted seniors in high school and treated them to a basketball game, which Wichita State destroyed the Drake Bulldogs, dinner, a tour of the dorms, and an ice cream social to end the event. While touring the dorms these student could go to prospective rooms to learn about greek life, christian challenge, international affairs, or they could just go play video games in one of the lounge rooms. I think about 100 students from different cities such as Salina, Garden City, Bel Plaine, and many others showed up to this event and most enjoyed the visit, especially the game.

As soon as this was over, SigEp hosted our first official date party of the semester. The theme was camo and let me tell you, we really went above and beyond on the decorations. The entire house was blacked out with writings on the walls that showed with the black lights. We had camo nets on the ceiling and army stuff everywhere. It was a great way to kick off the semester. I had a lot of fun and cant wait for our next one.

Thats all for now.

Spring 09

With the second week of classes well under way, I at least have an idea of how I will fare in the them. By only taking 12 hours and being currently unemployed, I feel like I have will have plenty of time to dedicate to my classes. They all seem fairly easy with the exception of my history class. My teacher has a different way of addressing the lecture as well as lecturing. It will take some adjustments but should be easily taken care of. I start class at 8 am and finish by 1030 everyday. I am also taking a Wednesday night entrepreneurship class. The night class will be a pain as I will find it hard to concentrate at 7 pm for 3 hours. My other classes are communications and economics. I am knocking out some of my general education classes as I am currently caught between two different majors. Anyways, that is all for now. More on my classes later.

A Much Needed Break

So I start school tomorrow and have to say, I thouroughly enjoyed my break but am excited for a new semester to get started. I did not really do much of anything for break, just sat around and was lazy. I left town once to Lawrence and worked for the first half of it.

Break, to me, did not feel like a month long. I think its because I slept for most of it, not waking up until after one nearly everyday, haha. I worked nights at Chesters before my employment was terminated due to a miscommunication with a manager. I really did not mind as I really dispised working there. I am in need of a job once again but cant seem to find a place I think I will not only enjoy, but make good money as well. I emailed a few places, but have heard nothing back yet. I saved up a good deal of money while working for Chesters for 2 months so I should be fine for a little while. If anyone knows of a place hiring, let me know.

I left for Lawrence on Friday for the weekend. This was the first time I had ever been there. I honestly cant say I had a fun time. I think the expectation I had preceeding my visit was so great, it weakened the experience. I did enjoy seeing my old friends from high school though. I returned home this afternoon, just in time for my 7:00 fraternity meeting. I was so glad to be back in Wichita and to see all my fraternity brothers. Wichita is home, I dont think I could imagine living anywhere different.

It is getting late and I have 8:00 class tomorrow. Get excited for this new semester of blogs, they are sure to be entertaining. Thanks to all who read.
