SigEp Softball Champs

W0w, WSU SigEps just won the SigEp tri-state tournament this weekend. If you want to catch a glimpse of just how spectacular this feat was... we beat an alumni team who had never lost a tri-state game EVER. Since this team entered the tournament 8 years ago they had brought home the championship trophy every year; we beat them twice this weekend. We were the first undergrad team to win this tournament in the 34 years its been hosted for. Anyways...

The SigEps in Arlington, TX host a softball tournament each year to support Youth AIDS and we have gone the last 3 years. It is so much fun, last year we rented an RV and rode down there but this year we just drove. On the way back, I was driving and a tire blew out, that was fun. I am sure this doesnt make any sense as I am thoroughly exhausted so I will log off now but will post more about the trip and some pics another day.

I demand a recount...

If I seem a little upset in this blog, it would because I am. Our supposed 1st place hippodrome performance took 3rd. We had the best dances, the best story line, and the best sets according to non SigEp affiliates. The judges thought otherwise, we took 3rd place in every single one of those categories. We did not win because we did not borrow professionally made sets and/or use an already existing storyline, changing only a few minute details. Originality definitely set us back since we made our own sets from scratch, came up with a script all on our own, and had really awesome dances. O well, I had fun with the whole event. Made some good friends and some great memories. I have to go plan our trip to Arlington for next week now...later

Cooperative Education = Awesome

As many of you know I am a personal trainer at the Northwest YMCA. I achieved this much desired position through the cooperative education program Wichita State offers. WSU has the largest Co-Op program in the state, meaning more available on-the-job training for you. Not only an I getting paid but also earning college credit. After the semester and Co-Op position is over with, I will continue to work for the Y. So after you high school students graduate I want you to do three things: come to WSU, join SigEp, and get a job through co-op. Thats all.

Easter Sunday!

Easter Sunday is usually a day of relaxation and celebration and that is exactly what I did. I woke up early and celebrated the resurrection of our Lord then relaxed at Grandmas in Derby. I had a great day, as I was able to spend it with my sister, her boyfriend, and cousins who all came into town. My sister, a senior at Pitt State, is probably the coolest person in the world, lol. No, but I really do love it when she comes and visits. I try to go up there as much as I can to see her but hippodrome leaves me too worn out by the weekend to travel anywhere; only six more days, OH YEAH! Anyways, Easter for me was taking a several naps, watching the Masters, and eating lots of food. What a great day!

Since my sister just left to head back to Pitt and I am finishing up this blog, I guess it is time to do some homework. Will write more next week.

Classes this Semester

My classes this semester are going really well. I have two really easy classes and two tough ones. My easy classes are in Human Comm and Entrepreneurship. My tough classes are in History and Macroeconomics. I do still have an A in History but I have been studying so much for it. My Macro class on the other hand is kicking my butt. I study so much but still cant understand it. I think there is a reason why I am not a business major. lol. I have a C in that class but hopefully I can bring it up. Anyways extremely tired from hippo, will post later.

So how was the 50th???

The 50th Anniversary provided the SigEp's a busy yet fun-filled weekend. The banquet definitely surpassed my already high expectations. The dinner, the alumni recognition, the band, and the dances all enhanced the night. Unfortunately, the night drew to a close around midnight and we all headed back to SigEp. From there about 50 guys and their dates all went over to the Delta Gamma house for their pancake feed. The night ended soon after.

We woke the next morning and formed a team to participate in Delta Delta Delta's Putt for a Cure. This is a great philanthropy the Tri-Delts put on to help raise money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude is America's second largest health-care charity that directs its attention towards the need of young children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Patients of St. Jude are treated regardless of their ability to pay. Seeing as this philanthropic event was geared toward the finances of poor college student, Putt for the Cure offered miniature golf, lunch, and t-shirt for a mere $10 donation. According to the Tri-Delts the event was a huge success and I am glad SigEp was able to help participate in such a good cause.

After that I went to work then picked my dad up from the airport. I was only able to watch the second half of the UNC v Nova game. My bracket was absolutely horrible; I will finish prob around 120th out of 156 entries. Like I said; horrible. Anyway, I think this will be all for now. I hope everyone had as good of a weekend as I did.

Here are just a few pictures from the 50th...

Sigma Phi Epsilon presents its 50th Anniversary

Sorry it's been so long...

This weekend is my fraternities 50th anniversary (locally) and there are hundreds of alumni in town. Last night we performed our Hippodrome skit for the alumni and tonight is a really big formal/banquet. This is going to be a huge banquet as President Steve Shanklin, our Grand Chapter President, will be in attendance as well as 60 undergrads and over three hundred alumni. As for other events; we had a golf tournament this morning, a final four watch party tomorrow night, and Sunday we are having an "In Memoriam" honoring our deceased brothers.

President Shanklin will be coming by our house around 5 to hang out with us before the banquet. Needless to say we spend all of yesterday spot cleaning our house. Anyways, I need to get going. I will let you all know how tonight turns out tomorrow. Hope you all have a great weekend...
